Setup restricted access to directory

I'm trying to setup restricted access to a directory for two users. I'm a newbie. How do I do it? I have to set it up so that two users have full (read, write and execute) access to the private directory I have set up. All others users are to be completely restricted from accessing that directory.

Please elaborate a little bit as to what sort of restrictions you are referring to.

In other words, what directory permissions you would like to grant/deny for each user.

I guess you should look into groups and permissions. But as the previous poster said, without further information on what you are actually trying to do, we cannot provide you with a detailed how to.

In that case, create a new user/group that owns the dir and add the 2 users to that group.
Use

chmod g+s <dir>

to force group ownership of all files in the dir.

Use

chmod o= <dir>

to remove access for 'others'
