setting up sendmail - rh8
 

okay guys and gals, i am trying to setup sendmail for the first time. i am running RH8 and have httpd running for my domain(s). all is fine and dandy with that but now i would like to have e-mail for my domain(s). where is a good place for instruction on how to setup sendmail? :scratch: i have looked around and found some sites that expected me to be an expert linux user, which i am not. :jawa: also, since i have virtual domains setup will i be able to setup sendmail for both? please advise. :Pengy:

I've heard one has to be a bit expert to get sendmail set up correctly... :) well, don't know about that. I had it somehow working once, with my own work, but it appeared to not work well always (and I didn't have time to play with it as I really don't need it).

also I've been hearing numerous warnings about sendmail's security problems...and the common advice is: if you need the services of sendmail, don't use sendmail but some "clone" instead....surf the web to find one.

sorry I can't give you proper help but I think google does find a solution if you try hard. if it doesn't, then you need a true guru :)

p.s. isn't "man sendmail" (in terminal, without quotes) the page that should give you first-hand info?

thanks, b0uncer. i guess i should look for something else. are there any clones that are better (translation: easier and more user friendly) than others? maybe postfix or something like that. wow, do i feel like a :newbie:!
