Setting up MS Outlook 2002 for a Samba server

I am "running" a Samba server (set up by a local company).

I am running Microsoft Outlook 2002 and would like my Students and Teachers to access their emails from any machine in the school using MS outlook.

Is this possible and if so how do I do it?

I don't think SAMBA and email have anything to do with one another. The few deployments I have seen with SAMBA, there was always a SAMBA server and a different mail server(s). All SAMBA does is allow for shared info within a network (data, printers, etc.) Email isn't shared, under most setups, only the person receiving the email gets to see it.

Peace,

I phoned the company that set Samba up and asked them which mail server they used. They said Linux Send mail. So if I understand you correctly Linux Send mail is used on the Samba server to distribute/handle the mail.

Can this be accessed via Microsoft Outlook from any machine - I currently have set up pop and smtp on one machine, but want to access the mail on any machine I go to (without haveing to log into the mail server). Do I need to set up microsoft exchange server or is there another (cheeper) option I can use in my school.
