Setting up KDE/Gnome?
 
ok ... how do i setup kde 3.0.1 or gnome under slackware 8.1 (zipslack... Fat32) ~.~

Windows ME .. 733mhz Celeron 64mb ram cdrom .. all is good...
it runs loads starts... mc works.. almost all of slackware uncompressed .. how do i get them to start.. eg KDE or Gnome

Type "startx" to start an Xwindows session and hopefully you may be presented with one or the other....or a choice (havnt run slack for years). If not.... type "kdm" and you can choose from there.

Create a file .xinitrc in your home directory and insert 'startgnome' (if you prefer GNOME) or 'startkde' (if you prefer KDE). Then use startx to run X.

ok got into kde.. via kdm.. but my res is reallly really bad... how do i fix that??

Ctrl+Alt+Plus / Minus (on the number pad) to cycle through available resolutions.
