are you using an internal modem or a external serial/usb modem?

you need to set up the dns settings in the network configuration, otherwise you'll need to type the IP address of all the websites

you might be able to get it from your ISP's website?

IP Address: Server Assigned

Primary DNS: Server Assigned

Secondary DNS: Server Assigned

SMTP Mail Server: smtp.dodo.com.au

POP3 Mail Server: pop.dodo.com.au

NNTP News Server: news.dodo.com.au

You need an IP address -- what's your ISP's site?

start YaST go to Network Devices then modems. Configure it all there w/ the phone number and COM1 in DOS is /dev/ttyS0 server assigned means DHCP...so wherever you see DHCP or server assigned as an option select it. when you are done with that it will ask if you want to configure your mail so you might as well since you have POP mail

SuSE has a program called Kinternet...its the little plug in the tray by the clock click on it to dial. I think it is also in start menu thingy lizard head then internet then Kinternet.. there is also wvdial from the command prompt where you edit wvdial.conf to have your setting. Kinternet is much easier

edit: you may have to install Kinternet throught YaST
