setting up crontab job for logwatch

Hi

I have installed logwatch in my linux box(FC 7).its workign fine even I am getting the mails from the logwatch( I have redireted mails from root to my mail box in /etc/aliases). I wanted to setup a crontab jobs(scheduled) from my linux machine.so that i could get the mail from the logwatch on a particular time.

thanks in advance

Redirecting root e-mail to an account that actually reads mail is a good thing to do from a security point of view.

If Logwatch executable for example is /usr/sbin/logwatch (possibly a symlink to "logwatch.pl" elsewhere) and you would like to run it daily you could symlink the executable to /etc/cron.daily/, and then it depends on what time /etc/cron.daily gets run (see /etc/crontab). More details are in 'man 5 crontab'. For example, if you would like to run it at 19:31 hours daily you could add an entry like '31 19 * * * /usr/sbin/logwatch' to /etc/crontab.
