setting up broadband for linux + windows

ok i am looking in to getting a broadband connection for my computers. my computer is running suse 9.2, and my dads is running win 98 se. i am wanting a single broadband provider and to be able to share the connection between the 2 computers. could anyone give me any advice on what provider would be good for this (in the uk) and what modems have good support for both os's, and generally any tips at all. thanks

the os really has no relation... there is no "good" isp for what you want. they are all fine. to fully share it to both machines, without using one machine as a router, just grab somethign like the BT Voyager 2100 wireless router (or anything that supports PPPoA) and go nuts. you just need to make the router be the point of log on, not the computer.

oh.. just don't get AOL... but you're smarter than that already i'm sure. ;)

lol ok cool. i had aol dialup and when i finally stopped the account some woman started asking me questions about why i was leaving aol, and so i spent 10 minutes trying to explain to her the difference between windows and linux. then she said that broadband only worked on windows so i gave up. :D

Personal recommendation for an ISP: UKFSN. If you want to go down the wireless router path, then check out ndiswrapper before you buy.
