setting up an email server

Hi all

Using tinysofa OS as a test box

what is the best way, but straight forward way to set up an email server.

Tiny sofa seems to have install Mail Server with Courier imapd and Mail Server with Cyrus imapd

and postfix

what are the correct steps to getting an email server going.
I read alittle, but i'm new to this.

I dont know if these are the right packages, got the list from log install

Code:
Installing cyrus-sasl-devel.
Installing cyrus-sasl-md5.
Installing cyrus-sasl-mysql.
Installing cyrus-sasl-otp.
Installing cyrus-sasl-plain.
Installing cyrus-sasl-utils.

Installing postfix.
Installing mutt.
Installing postfix-ldap.
Installing postfix-mysql.
Installing postfix-pcre.
Installing postfix-pgsql.
Installing postfix-rmail.

Installing imapd-pam.
Installing courier-imap.
Installing courier-imap-ldap.
Installing courier-imap-mysql.
Installing courier-imap-pgsql.
Installing cyrus-imapd.
error: unpacking of archive failed: cpio: read <---whats that mean
Installing cyrus-imapd-devel.

Log install /tmp/install
can any one help me out please

TT

Avoid cyrus unless you know what your doing.
Its very nice but a very big head ache too if anything goes wrong.

Courier and postfix seem to work pretty well.
Try to not go ldap unless you absolutely have too. If you dont know what that is then dont worry.

for the most part courier will work after its installed you might need to modify a few things
the configuration files should at /etc/courier-imap/
edit the imapd file and pop3d files

for postfix you have to edit the config file or it wont run
its at /etc/postfix/main.cf

this is a pretty good tutorial on postfix dont worry about the installing part of the tutorial just look at the configuration
