setting up a biarch fc3 system, need advice/help

i just purchased an emachine with:
2.0GHz athalon 64 3200+
160 GB ATA HD
1.24G SDRAM

i am running a network that is used for simulations an research. i want to put on both 32-bit and 64-bit FC3 for dual boot. this is so i can utilize the 32-bit developement apps while running the 64-bit os with little or no side efects. ive read that this can done by using setarch/chroot to link the 32-bit lib from the 32-bit os to the 32-bit apps on the 64. ive been reading a lot of articles and none seem to have the answer. if there is any info that i can use to complete this task it would be very much appriciated.

thanx,

tom.

No need really for the most part, many are running in a mixed mode environment. I'm currently running a mixed mode CentOS-4.3 based OS on my 64-bit laptop. While the main OS and interface is 64-bit I do have some 32-bit applications running, mostly for things like browsing and watching videos. All you have to make sure of is to install the libs for both 32-bit and 64-bit wherever needed, for example;

libao-0.8.5-2.EL.0.i386.rpm
libao-0.8.5-2.EL.0.x86_64.rpm

If you just need libs for the 32-bit application then install them as needed. Only if the appliction(s) interacts with 64-bit application(s) then you need to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit libs.

The 64-bit system is quite happy to run the 32-bit application(s) and or OS.

cool, thanx for the info.

but, if there were a way to install both the 32-bit and the 64-bit, and do a setarch/chroot, how would i proceed. only because if there were a discrepancy i would not be able to reboot due to the fact that there will eventually be networked and any cross mounts would be violated. so, what i guess i am saying is i want to minimize all possibility of any ill happenings.
