setting resolution
 
ok. clean install of slackware 9.1.

my monitor should run resolution of 1400x1050 but only 10248x768 is shown in kde control panel settings

i dont know the make/model of this monitor and dont know any technical terms about monitors like refresh rates

how do i set this up for 1400x1050?

You could try the "user friendly" way ... log
out of KDE, shut-down X, run
xf86cfg
as root ...

i went through this but there was no part to choose the actual resolution, only refresh rates? which i dont know.
