Question setting PATH

Hi ALL
A little question.
Where can I set environment variables which have to be visible to any user?
I have just installed gprolog. It put executable in /usr/local/bin. I detected that my PATH env.var. doesn't contain this path. Therefore I add to /etc/profile something like:
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/path; export PATH
But now I noticed that my PATH env.var. is growing every time when I start new terminal in KDE and it contains dublicate entries. How can I avoid this problem?

Thnx.

It looks you have a similar entry in .bash_profile. Delete it and it should be OK.
