Post setting of screen resolution in fedora 11

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
i have just installed fedora 11.my screen resolution is set to 1280*1024,this one doesn't support for my monitor as my comp is an 32-bit one.if i try to change the resolution to 1024*768 the computer screen goes blank.plz,help me out how to change the screen resolution.

what is your 3d card and HAVE you installed a driver for it ?

fedora ONLY INSTALLS THE FREE AND OPENSOURCE DRIVERS . it dose NOT install the ATI or Nvidia drivers you need to install those .

ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 SERIES,can u plz tell me which drivers i hve to install and where to get them??

did you read the fedora ati install guide in the above post?

if not the fglrx driver then THE VERY BIG RED TXT IS A LINK TO THE ATI WEB SITE

You should not install any extra drivers for your video card. The last version of the proprietary drivers that support your GPU are fglrx 9.3, and they will not work on Fedora 11. Use the open source drivers that Fedora 11 ships with.

There are so many options like f11,f10,f9.i am not able to find out which are the drivers that support my graphics cards.i am complete newbie...plz help me out..

As I said, Fedora ships with them. They should be enabled by default. What makes you think you need to install any drivers at all?

my screen resolution is not proper..it is set to 1280*1024 by default..which is not supported by my system.when i try to change through
display my screen goes complete blank..

Just some advice first, for the future. It is always best to describe the problem you are having and getting peoples suggestions on how to fix them, rather than jumping to your own conclusion and asking the wrong questions.

So please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file to a post here (or use a service like http://pastebin.com/ ) and maybe we can see what is going on. Also, what is the output of 'xrandr' ?

hello,adam thanks fr ur advice.below is the output for xrandr

Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024
default connected 1280x1024+0+0 0mm x 0mm

You are using the vesa driver in your xorg.conf file. You should either be using the 'radeon' driver in your xorg.conf file or not even use an xorg.conf file.
