settina a broadband connection in fedora7


Hi
I want to set up a broadband connection in fedora 7. But I am not being able to set it. the broadband works in windows but in linux it does not. please help me to set up a broadband connection in fedora 7.

do you use a modem? a router? wireless.....

I use a modem provided by my service provider BSNL

take a look at pppoe
http://www.linuxhelp.net/guides/pppoe/
it should be included in every distribution.

also i know with cable that the internet receiver (cable modem) has to be power-cycled in order to accept a new nic cards hwaddress.

unplugging/ replugging the power to both the pc and the internet reciever.
