How do I set my default run level so I will boot to a
vga console

I trying to install the nvidia driver for GeForce2 MX but I need to do this 1st and edit my X config file...?

If you go into your KDE / Gnome interface .. so by normal boot. You can press CTRL+ALT+F1 to go into the console. From there just do: /etc/init.d/kdm stop

or gdm / xdm depending on the x-server you are using.

Now follow the procedure for nvidia.

chmod +x nvidia-blablabla.sh

sh nvidia-blablabla.sh

then start ur xsession again: /etc/init.d/kdm start.
