Set environement variable path of java in ubuntu 12.04

Hi,

i want to set java environment variable path in ubuntu 12.04.

i have edited the file of .bashrc as below

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-i386
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-i386/bin

but when i am trying to install my software it says environment variable must be set.

Thanks.

Before trying to install the software, did you source the .bashrc file? Because any changes in such shell initialization files will take place only after sourcing the file. On the other hand, once logout from your current login session and then login again, and then try to install your software again.

To source it, simply invoke:
Code:
~$ source .bashrc
