Server will not reboot from terminal
I have a seemingly simple problem I have never encountered before. When I issue the command:
sudo reboot now My server (HP Proliant N40L, ubuntu 12.04) will not restart! I have to go back home and press the power button and sometimes I have to do a hard restart even after that! I have been using Linux for about a year now as a home server to store a lot of old files, images, music and videos for my family. I recently built this setup a few weeks ago. Besides this one issue, everything else seems to work fine! Thanks. |

EDIT: However this should work better: sudo shutdown -r now |
SAbhi,
I just tried your suggestion. No luck. The computer stays off. And of course when I power back up it gives me all these warnings about the drives not being properly unmounted. One thing that may have happened is that awhile back I was trying to get the Wake-On-LAN functionality to work. Apparently, Ubuntu 12.04 has a really messed up shutdown sequence that is really uncompatible with the Proliant N40, many seem to be complaining. |
