Server to Server SSH not working -- Need help troubleshooting please.
Server 1: Up and running for a while
Server 2: Just setup
I've just finished installing a new instance of CentOS 6 for Server 2 (which is the same OS as Server 1). The purpose of Server 2 is to have a backup server that I can remote sync my server backups to.
I can successfully SSH into Server 2 from my home computer.
When I try to SSH in FROM Server 1, it times out.
I have checked the firewall (CSF) and whitelisted the IP address of Server 1.
I have turned off the firewall temporary to see if that was the issue.
Both aren't working. I did create SSH Keys on Server 2 and used ssh-copy-id to get those keys to Server 1. That was successful.
Now, when I go to ssh in, it just times out. No password prompt comes up.
I've tried using the -vvv option with SSH and all it does it time out while trying to connect to Server 2.
Any messages in /var/log/secure on server 2?
Your ssh keys and copying was in the wrong direction if you want to log in from server 1 to 2 without a password. You need to copy server 1's key to server 2's authorized_keys file, not the other way around.
Can server 1 ssh to itself?
Can server 2 ssh to itself?
Can server 2 ssh to server 1?
<We already know server 1 can't ssh to server 2>
OK, missed that on you first post. Are these systems on the same lan or different lans? Wondering if this is some type or routing problem. Make sure you can ping both ways.
