Server Space


I have a RHEL server , I just found the server / directory size is full , then I remove 20G data from it , but I found that no space is released , the system is still full , then I reboot it , the server have 20G free space now , can advise except reboot it , how to release the size ? thx

What's the FS you are using? And are you usind RAID/LVM?

Perhaps a simple sync might do too.
Eg: # sync

thx,

I tried use sync , then make no differnce ,

I man sync --help , but it didn't show anything , can advise what can i do ? thx

sync --help
Usage: sync [OPTION]
Force changed blocks to disk, update the super block.

--help display this help and exit
--version output version information and exit
