Server/ remote desktop

Howdi all im running a 486 with 32MB RAM, 700MB hdd,floppy,cd-rom,1MB video. My linux box is a pentium 133Mhz,32MB ram, 3gig hdd,1MB video,cd-rom,floppy, no operating system yet. I need a distro to install onto it but first ill explain what i wanna use it for.

Basically i want to use my 486 with windows 95 to somehow connect to my pentium 1 and use the pentium 1 to store stuff on and maybe a print server. So i dont know if i would need a GUI on the P1 but i still dont know much about linux and that, is my idea even possible?

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

Given your hardware i would start with dam small linux
it will give you a GUI but it uses a very small amount of disk space

Yes it is possible. A GUI is not required but as already suggested it is also possible. There are several lightweight linux distributions, damn small linux, Deli and slackware can be installed.

samba is software that provides printing and file sharing between linux and windows computers.
Lots of information can be found on samba by googling. In a nutshell files sharing is as simple as using network neighborhood.
