Server OS
Hi
I have just rented a server running Red Hat 7.3, I have been advised to update the kernel (by the people I rent the server from) because it fails every now and again. Another person has told me to swap to Debian. What I want to know is how to go about this swap, how do I get Debian to my machine and then how do I install it to replace Red Hat. Can anyone help? Thanks, Scott |
how do you get debian to your machine? pick it up... carry it over to the drive ... if you mean where do you get it from.. http://linuxiso.org
you install it by using the installer, and reading the installation guide, that's what it's there for. |
Thanks, I have no idea where my machine physically is. How do I download files to it from wherever. I know how I upload files directly from my desktop but that means getting it to my desktop then uploading it which will take ages.
thanks Scott |
you want to do this remotely? you can't install an operating system remotely...
|
Ah. So that is why I could not find out how to do it.
Thanks, Scott |
