Smile server info


Hi everyone!!!I am a fresher from ECE backgrond and linux is just a bit lesser to an alien to me.Pls provide me commands to get the info and specifications of the servers used in my org.I hv tried lshw bt its not working on test server.

HI,

try the following command to get required information

-for system information
dmidecode -t 1

-for base board information
dmidecode -t 2

can go on checking adding each number t0 "-t "


or u can try

dmidecode | less

It may be old and no longer maintained but I still like ServDoc. It just requires Perl and you don't need to install it to be able to run it and it creates quite extensive ASCII or HTML reports.

jamesdean, what operating system are you attempting to get the hardware information on? I know you said Linux but which flavor.
