Server Crashed, what to check?

Wondering if there is anything more I can check apart from /var/log/messages after a server crash.

In that log I have got absolutely no listing of any issues, the server just died, stopped logging and then the log shows me the reboot.

I'm really keen to find out the reason.

Thx
