Serial ATA (SiS 180) problem

I currently only have a computer with windows, i was going to format and install suse pro 9.1, kernel 2.6.4-52 i believe... i went to the sis website and downloaded the linux drivers, but they werent being detected by the installation on the floppy. I hear kernel 2.6.6 will support my hardware just fine, but could i just make a new suse dvd that has kernel 2.6.6 in it or am i screwed and just have to wait for suse to come out with a new version or use a different distro?
