sendmail log


I use the command "sendmail" to send mail to myself - sendmail xxx@yyy.com , it is fine to send it , but I didn't find any record about the send process in /var/log/maillog , I also try to use the command "mail xxx@yyy.com" to successfully send mail , but also can not find record in /var/log/maillog ,would advise how can I check the log ? where can I find the send mail log to trace the error ? thanks
