sendmail domain name problem

Ok I have "fixed" this problem but did it in a bad way in my opinion.

When I send test emails to myself from other emails outside of my server, they come to my server stay in my mqueue file
with the message:

(host map: lookup (mydomain.com): defered)
<myuser@mydomain.com>
underneath the queue id number date of transmission and sender.

I fixed this problem with a hodgepodge way by editing the /etc/mail/virtusertable and putting in there:
myuser@mydomain.com myuser

and the queue emptied into myuser's mailbox after doing a makemap hash on my virtusertable

This makes it so the other users on my server still have the same problem and I would have to type in every single one whenever I add new users to my server. While this is definately feasible it seems to be a hokey way of fixing the problem.

This is the only domain name I am using for my server but I don't know what to change to get sendmail to just accept this as my domain name and not leave it in the queue indefinately.

I have spent many hours looking at mail help pages at redhat.com linux.com sendmail.org. Guess I am not very good at searching the HOWTOS. I also searched this forum in the newbies section for all references to sendmail and looked at a few that might help me.

in my sendmail.cf I have:
Dj$w.mydomain.com

Anyone know how to fix this problem in a better method? Also anyone know any good sendmail help books I could read that are more geared towards people completely new to linux and sendmail both? I saw one mentioned a few times in the other posts but don't know if it is at my level of reading.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Ok I have figured it out. Been reading up a bunch of stuff bought Sendmail Theory and Practice read most of it (going to get the bat book when the next version comes out.) What I needed to do was add my host name into /etc/hosts. I don't know for sure if I would recommend Sendmail Theory and Practice to someone who doesn't want to do alot of reading, but it really has helped me understand email in general better and sendmail.

yech. books... better to refer to online sites in forums so you can share the knowledge.

though sometimes it's not possible, i know. but there are people out there (myself) that don't like to or can't afford to by books. :-)

Had to resort to books... I searched many questionaire sites, then posted here, got no response for around a week (I don't know how long a response if any is comming is supposed to come.)

I posted my solution in case it might help someone else.
