Linux Newbie isn't really the place for this question. Probably belongs in Linux-Software.

Do you get it every time and does it occur at the same line every time? If so, then it might be a bug and you should submit it.
If not, some have suggested on other forums that it might be a bad memory issue.

By the way, don't you have a pre-compiled version for it? Check here http://packages.ubuntu.com/ or by using the package manager.

thanks all for the replies. what i have noticed is, that during the install, most of the files oculdnt be installed, so i re installed the system, and only a couple of files prompted an error during the installtion, in which i pressed the continue option and the system continued its installation.

but i admit, there might be a serious hardware issue with my server, probably the hard disk.

i shall re install a new hard disk and try again.

thx a lot,
