seen anything like this before?

I have recently installed Redhat Fedore core 1 (yarrow) on my pc from a local vendor...
I am a newbie to the linux world and kept imagining of those long commands to work on...

But hey! I was really wrong...This one really had some good user interface...BUT...

I wanted to install new softwares...but i cant...i dont know where to install them to.. also whenever i try to upgrade my softwares in add/remove software wizard(or whatever it is) it says that there are some missing files...now what shall i do about this?
That stupid vendor even charged me 300 for that...

also i cannot use my bsnl net connection...seems like it doesn't detect my modem

now there...does anyone have similar problems...or anyone know the solution?
