(Seemingly) strange problem using mouseemu with fluxbox on ibook g4 ppc

This is my first post here. Full disclosure: I've posted this same problem on forums.debian.net but have gotten no responses.

I am using debian lenny on an ibook g4. I emulate right and center clicks with control or command, respectively, plus clicking my only trackpad button. This works wonderfully in gnome with metacity. I would like to experiment with fluxbox, though.

In fluxbox with the default "~/.fluxbox/keys" file, my emulated right clicks and emulated center clicks do not bring up the menu on the desktop. They do not work for tabbing. They do still work, however, for my web browser. After trying the emulated clicks on the desktop enough times, something crashes: all clicks, left, emulated right and emulated center, fail to work; the keyboard only works for commands appearing in my keys file; and after ctrl-alt-backspacing out of X, my keyboard and trackpad remain dead.

I have tried replacing, for example "Mouse3" with "Control Mouse1," in the keys file and have the same problem.

The only thing which sort of works is assigning shift+mouse1 in the keys file to bring up a root menu. This same command will not work for tabbing.

What is going on here? Let me know if I should post any configuration files to help diagnose this. I find this problem to be really strange, but that may be due to my inexperience.
