Seeking directions

OK. I have Mandrake 9.1 installed. Now where do I go?

I have never used a Linux system before and I am looking for a reliable guide/manual/FAQ/reference that can teach me how to use the system. I have worked with UNIX (a few years back) VAX, as well as programming and system administration in just about all of the Win environments, so I would like to stay away from the linux for dummies type of stuff but I do need something that will help me learn how to truly use the environment. As for programming I have C and C++ manuals to help with that and can find other stuff like the Perl. All I want is some suggestions of what materials I should be looking at.

Thanks a bundle, albeit in advance, for any assistance that can be offered.

Try the ever faithful RUTE. It's informative and doesn't talk down to you.

Alternatively, you could go to the Mandrake home page and hve a look at their docs. Or go to The Linux Documentation Project.

And don't forget to search this site - a number of people have asked this question.

Well I have been searching this site and I find it extraordinarilly useful and informative. Thanks for the liks to the other sites though. I hated the thought of searching some 2 million sites for the ones that would not talk down to me and yet not try to tutor me on how to turn on the computer. Thanks again!
