hey im kinda a newbie...iv been useing slackware 8.1 for 3-4 months...i have apache web server 1.3.26 ...should i upgrade to 2.0.43 and any i do not want to have a server that is easy to hack...i have closed every port except port 80 (HTTP) and i only allow HTTP and SSH trafic on my firewall...what else if anything can i do?

I think there's a slightly newer version of 1.3 out with security fixes, you should subscribe to ssh/apache announce to keep up to date.

I'm sure someone will find some security problems with both 1.3 and 2.0 in the future. It's going to be a long time before they stop maintance on 1.3, many people still use it, it's ok to stay with it.

server with only only http/ssh is great.

Well, if you want you can install AIDE or tripwire to make sure no one enters and fiddles with the files they should not touch.
