While I'm not sure about the best, the Gnome Disk Utilty
is pretty good. I've used it more than once to check the health of both laptop and desktop hard drives. It might be available in the CentOS repositories or, if not, you can find it in Gnome's Git repository here.
I'm not sure if it requires any dependencies, however.
