(scsi1:A:6): 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 7, 16bit)<-- what is this ?

Greetings,

We have installed some compaq monitoring agents on a proliant ml350, on which rh7.3 is installed....

Whenever the storage monitoring agent is active we see the following messages dumped to the console and var/log/messages every 15 seconds...

Dec 28 18:24:36 aivr01 kernel: (scsi1:A:6): 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 7, 16bit)
Dec 28 18:24:36 aivr01 kernel: (scsi1:A:6): 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 15, 16bit)

Could these be indicative of a possible hardware fault ? This server has crashed (ASR caught it and rebooted) twice, apparently randomly in the last few weeks......

I don't think they indicate errors, I'd rather say it is reporting the current status of the SCSI subsystem. If you don't want them, read the relevant docs (Compaq?) or use your syslog to redirect the messages to a log file of your choice.

Syslog doesn't really redirect them properly - we've tried this and all it did was send twice the amount of messages to /var/log/messages.. we've worked out how to get rid of the messages...thats not th eissue...

its working out why they are coming up. We have the exact same monitoring software on two other proliant servers and we don't get these messages coming up....

just that this box has its fair share of wierd problems...
