SCSI with two drives, winnt4 boots, suse 10 wont

I have a SCSI system with two hard drives. Installed first drive. Loaded winnt 4 on first drive. Disconnected this drive and added a second drive, loaded SUSE successfully. Now connected both drives. I can run winnt4 with both drives connected, but when I boot the SUSE drive when the other drive is also connected it hangs with a message "swsusp suspend partition has wrong signature" My guess is that the SUSE doesn't like the windows signature. I wanted this system so that I could avoid boot loader problems but it appears I now have another problem. This message comes up as the machine is probing the Winnt 4 drive. No problems with terminations. Any suggestions? Scsi ID's are 0 for suse drive, 1 for NT4

How are you booting Suse?
Are you using the WinNT bootloader, the pc BIOS, or the scsi controller bios to select boot device?

I am using the Adaptec SCSI bios to determine which OS to boot from. As a matterof interest I tried the same thing with a second machine with SUSE 10 and Win2K and got the identical message when trying to boot SUSE. First trial was on anHP Kyak dual Pentium 2 with onboard Adaptec SCSI. Second machine was HP Visualize dual Pentium 3 with Adaptec 29160.
Have tried to start SUSE again and am getting the following message.

swsusp: suspend partition has wrong signature?
Loading reiserfs
Waiting for device /dev/sda2 to appear:......not found -- exiting to /bin/sh
$

When you installed suse on a standalone scsi disk it was installed on the device /dev/sda (i.e. the 1st scsi disk). Now with the winnt disk attached the suse disk becomes /dev/sdb, so you have to change the grub config accordingly.

Thanks for the suggestion bathory I think it may solve my problem. I suspected that something like this had happened. Will figure out how to change the grub configuration and see if it works.Appreciate the helP.

I tried to edit the grub configuration but in order to get into grub I have to disconnect the other drive with WinNt so that I can boot into Linux. When I open yast and try to configure a boot from sdb instead of sda it does not recognize the second disk which is not connected, and therefore will not allow me to substitute sdb as an alternative boot device. What do I do now?
