Scroll wheel in Slack 10

I'm running Slackware 10 and I can't get the scroll wheel to scroll. I can use the scroll wheel button, that works fine, but I can't get it to scroll at all. Any advice? Oh ya, it's a 3 button, PS/2 mouse. thanx

This is asked almost daily, google is your friend
Code:
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
may have to change protocol to IMPS/2 too.

Edit your XF86Config-4 file, and add a Z-axis mapping option, thus:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "PS/2 Mouse"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "Protocol" "auto"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
        Option "Emulate3Timeout" "70"
        Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
EndSection
Or, use whatever GUI you have available... but editing the config file is probably just as simple in this case, and at least you know what you're doing. And don't forget to back it up first...

Cheers,

mj

And emulate 3 buttons should be false not true.

< mj shows distinct lack of knowledge with slack >

Yes - I posted (in great haste) the wrong bit of my config file - am on a laptop at the mo' with three mice in tandem - 2xPS/2 plus one wheel USB-IMPS/2.

Cheers,

mj

ahh, hence /dev/psaux rather than /dev/mouse (or /dev/input/mouse)

Thanx for the help, it's fixed, I just had to change the protocol to IMPS/2 and it was all fixed. Sorry, I'm a little slow... Thanx again though
