Scripting Using PBS


Please explain details of each line given below.

NPROCS=`cat $PBS_NODEFILE|wc -l`
ulimit -a
echo $PBS_WORK

Is this homework? What steps have you taken to answer your own question and what problems are you having?

I have got this script from someone. Now, the 1st line is clear a bit to me. But I don't know what is the role of 2nd and 3rd line? I searched a lot for explanation of 2nd and 3rd line. I did not get proper explanation.

The line "ulimit -a" gives the output...given below...

core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
scheduling priority (-e) 0
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals (-i) 516071
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files (-n) 32768
pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
real-time priority (-r) 0
stack size (kbytes, -s) unlimited
cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes (-u) 1024
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
file locks (-x) unlimited
