Yes, script can be written. But first explain your requiement in details and also share that what work you've done so far.

Yes, but with that volume you might want to have a look at Nagios, Icinga and other existing frameworks first.

Hi Shiva there are 100+ servers previously monitoring is done by IBM Tivoli since they have stopped that. They asked me to write script for the monitoring where i don't have any clue how to write and how to start the things please let me know the details so that according to that i can give ....:o

Unless you only want very simple monitoring (which seems unlikely), get a free system such as Nagios etc.

This is not just enough, so make it little more clear:

• What kind of script you've been asked to create for performance monitoring? How you're going to create it and how will you invoke it? Do you have any strategy from previous experiences of performance monitoring?
• Which kind of server there are, and which parameters you're concerned about i.e. disk utilization, uptime, availability, cpu utilization, any application, bandwidth, resources utilization, i/o time etc.?
• Are you concerned about any monitoring tool (free vs paid?) as suggested above like Nagios?

I'll second what chrism01 said, and suggest Nagios.

And I find it odd that a company that has 100+ servers, which previously was using a fairly expensive monitoring solution, would ask someone with no scripting experience to "write a script" to do this. Why did they stop using Tivoli? And if you want to monitor ANYTHING, you first need to determine what those things ARE. Do you want to monitor CPU? Memory? Disk space? Network throughput? Individual services? Determine each part you want to monitor, and that will then tell you what you need to do to get that statistic. From there, all you have to do is examine the output, and act on it.

Google can...look thing up for yourself, please.
