screen resolution problem


Hello everybody i have installed centos 4 on a machine that will be
used as a server. My problem is that the screen resolution is too
high making reading on the screen very difficult. i want to change
the screen resolution but don't know how to do it. Any help provided
is deeply appreciated. Thanks.

u have mentioned that u have installed centos on server m/c.

generally GUI packages will not be installed on server machine.

to change screen resolution

try this command :

# setup

select x configuration

runtool

and proceed

this might help u

i typed setup at the terminal
then selected x configuration
and then runtool
and had the message: "cannot display this video mode
optimum resolution 1440x900 60HZ"
