Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I'm new with Linux & Slackware 13.37 on my Laptop.
My issue is the screen resolution is too high on TTY1 (so the font is too small) at the login prompt and I can't find how to set it up to the resolution I want.
After LILO the resolution/font size is fine with me (800x600x256) then couple second before the login prompt appear the screen resolution switch to higher resolution making the text very small.
I have try changing the font size with pkgtool but that's not I want.
I have try changing the resolution to 800x640x256 using pkgtool to configure lilo and it effectively changes the screen resolution but it does not avoid switching the screen at high resolution before the login prompt.
How could I configure the TTYx screen resolution.
I'm not planning to use startx soon, I just want to work the the test terminal.
