Scientific linux grub file

Hi all,

I'm new to linux and I'm trying to enable serial console to my grub file(console=ttyS0). I was looking for grub.conf but the only thing I have is /etc/grub2.cfg.

Is there any body who knows where should I add it?

Thanks

I'm sorry. I made a mistake. It's Fedora 17.

Fedora 17 installs Grub2 by default but also has the Grub legacy files. You should have both a /boot/grub and /boot/grub2 directory. If you don't see either then you did not install Grub or else the installation did not complete properly. The grub.conf file was used with earlier versions of Fedora which used Grub Legacy.

A clean install of F17 will have the grub files under /boot/grub2 - grub.cfg being of the most interest (/boot/grub has only the splash.xpm.gz).

To answer the question posed, update the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in the file /etc/default/grub, then run
Code:

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
Read the wiki (noting all caveats), and also take note of my sigline.
