Then just follow the instructions in the file and try to do that. And make sure that you take the backup of those files.

I would suggest you to update your current Linux Mint 9 to Linux Mint 12.

I considered that. I tried booting from a Linux 12 CD, and it got my Workforce 600 working but didn't recognize the Perfection 1600 at all. The 600 has a bulk feeder, but the 1600 has much better resolution. I'll keep trying out each new Linux OS, and if there's one that runs both scanners, I'll switch.

But why are you installing your both the scanners on same OS?

Because they have different functions. One is a very high resolution image scanner, but does not have a bulk feeder. The other is suitable for bulk scanning of records, but has lower resolution.

I promise, they did both used to work on the same OS -- just not on Linux.
