scanner installation

I have an epson 1250 usb scanner
when I start the computer, mandrake 8.1 do not see it
when I try to execute xsane from the xterm, it display error
actually,I went to xsane homepage and download backend for hp2200c which they say use the same chip as the epson 1250
I take a look at the scanner info with usbview, and I see it write in red which mean it did not install properly

The hp2200c backend is still alpha software so you might not be able to get it working yet. All you can do is moniter the CVS untill it gets to the stage where it works, and sending bug reports to the developers will help as well.
