scanner, cdr and dvd rom doesnt work

Im using Red Hat Fedora Publishers edition and I cant seem to record or write to CD, nor can I watch a DVD and, my hp3300c usb scanner isnt picked up? should i try another distro of linux, or do I have alot of configuring to do?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Chances are that another distro (i.e. Mandrake or
Xandros) would pick up and configure the hardware
out of the box. How easy/difficult it is in FC to get
those working I can't tell, I have no experience with
it whatsoever...
