I never bothered using any of there "software". I figured it was junk anyways. Whenever you install anything from an isp you can expect ads, popups, garbage, etc. So it's not just a sbc yahoo thing. Believe it or not whether you have a router or not I found out you don't even need there software, there are plenty of net sharing apps for both windows and linux that will get the job done.

sbc yahoo and linux

i dont use it anymore since i decided to pay the extra bucks for static ips but getting linux up and running on bell was pretty easy. you dont have to use their online setup. you can call instead and do it over the phone. the linux part was a snap with roaring penguin

Question what about email?

Just to make sure about SBC/Yahoo email accounts:

Their 10 email accounts are real POP accounts accessible from Linux with e.g. fetchmail?
(Not webmail-only thingies.)

Thanks.

Unless there are recent changes, SBC email can be accessed either VIA POP with a mail client or with an online interface.
Typical-I take a quick look at their webpage and that info is not readily available, so no link.
Give them a call if you want to confirm.

If you happen to own Homeportal, you should just enable and/or setup ehternet port. The modem won't work with adsl setup. That's what i ahd to do, took me some time tog et it working but finally it started to work.
