SB Live Problem

Ok another setup problem for me :newbie:

I have a Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 PCI installed.
There is also an onboard soundcard which I think is Ensoniq ES1371 AudioPCI-97.

I noticed there was an error on boot something to do with usb and ov511.o though I don't know where to review the log for the full message.

The sound did actually work once completely i.e. systems sounds etc and played cds and I didn't change a thing honest;) . But on reboot it now will only play cds with no system sounds and no MP3 playing through xmms.

I have noticed something totally weird though.
Through the audio detection util if I select the Creative Tab with the primary audio device selected as SB Live and hit play test sound I don't hear anything.

If I select the Ensoniq Tab still with the Primary audio device selected as SB Live and hit play test sound I get the test sound

Thanks for any suggestions

If it works with Ensoniq, then you cant argue with that :)

in a term window or command line type........dmesg
any other error messages can be found in /var/log/

Now you need to disable the onboard sound from your BIOS........
this way only the SB live module get used when you boot up linux.

There is no disable on the BIOS and no way of disabling on the motherboard :-(
Is there anyway I can disable within linux ?

Thanks

Installed Open Sound System and everything seems to work :D
Although I could have done without the cost:cry:
