Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

when I tried to run sax to setup my nvidia card it gave me something like
sax: ups lost card during probing... abort
i've been googling and found nothing really helpful. I don't know much about linux, I just got kde working, before all I had was the command line.
I have the nvidia driver installed but when I type sax2 -p i get this
Chip: 0 is -> Intel i845 00:02:0 0x8086 0x2562 PCI i810
Chip: 1 is -> NVidia GeForce FX 5500 01:04:0 0x10de 0x0326 AGP nv
This is interesting because my nvidia card is in a PCI slot.
When I tried to use sax or yast to configure these it just loads a screen with a big black X for the cursor and then shuts down. I want to disable the Intel graphics and fix the Nvidia setting and set it as the default graphics card, but this is really difficult if I can't open any of the problems to do it with.
Is there anyone that is experienced with this problem or knows a solution I can use that will actually work. I don't have the internet on that computer yet so trying the online update straight through the nvidia website isn't an option. I'll try tweaking a few things myself but i doubt i'll have any success.
I appreciate any help/advice I can get
thanks very much and merry Christmas
