samba share


I have create a samba share folder. among the write list only the first user can write to the folder. the rest can not write. what could be the problem.?
Here is part of the smb.conf
[programs]
browseable = yes
writeable = yes
printable = no
path = /programs
write list = mike,james,moses,
comment = Programs
valid users = mike,janes,moses,elizabeth,andrew

Only mike can write. the rest can not write to the shared folder.

Check the permissions of that shared folder.

write list is [ groupname ] u can add the users into that group and check the group permissions !

smbpasswd is must.......

example:

[linux]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /data
public = no
writable = yes
printable = no
write list = +staff
hosts allow = 192.168.
valid users = mike, james, moses

_________

groupadd staff

gpasswd -M mike,james,moses staff

chmod staff /data

chmod g+w /data
