Samba Setup

Hello,

I just installed Fedora 10 and it looks like samba is configured already and I just had to create a share folder. Am I missing something?

I have my windows xp desktop sitting on the same network and can ping each other.

What do I do on the windows side to get to that shared folder?

Thanks

Joe

just go to your network places and see if the Fedora 10 share is viewable...

i did have a fedora 10 to windows xp setup but i was unable to view the shares between them... with Ubuntu it worked just fine...

The workgroup names should match between the Samba setup and the Windows PC's. This seems to be a trivial suggestion, but it's easy to miss when setting up the whole thing.

I tried using ubuntu many times. Something is wrong because everytime I try it, it says it cannot find the package and I cannot install it. I know it should come installed already, but none of the apt-get commands or any commands to start it work. I have even tried downloading ubuntu again incase that package was missed for some reason during download. and clue on what I should do?
