SAMBA Security

Hi,

I am very new to this, so please bear with me...

I have set up a SAMBA share which seems to work fine when I set Guest OK = Yes in the smb.conf. When I change that to NO, I get prompted for a password. This is obviously what I want, but it automatically sets this user as tmpuser, and I have no clue as to what the password is for that! Please can you let me know where I can find\set this user's credentials? Is it in the Global area of the smb.conf? If so, what is the syntax?

Thanks in advance

Try adding something like the settings below:

security = user
encrypt passwords = true
passdb backend = tdbsam guest
obey pam restrictions = yes
invalid users = root
valid users = youruser

Then as root type "smbpasswd youruser" and enter your desired password.
and "smbpasswd --help" to get a list of options
