Okay, I have three questions. Yes, you guessed it, they are about Samba, printing, and WINE.

Before I begin, I should provide the information that I am running Slackware and I selected the Full Install of packages, so I believe things such as Samba and WINE should already be installed correctly.

First off, Samba. I was told by a friend to su to root and type "vi /etc/inetd.conf". I did so, and (obviously) it opened up inetd.conf to edit with the vi editor. After that, I was told to remove the comment indicator (#) from the line that started with "swat" in order to enable me to edit Samba using swat. I did this, and saved it (:wq), then entered "killall -HUP inetd" as root. I don't really know what the former does, but I was told to do it, so I obeyed. Now it was time for me to enter the Samba configuration using swat. This is where I ran into trouble. I exited root and returned to X as my user (adamantium) and opened up Firefox. I typed "127.0.0.1:601" in the address bar, hit enter, and then got this message: "Access to the port number given has been disabled for security reasons." Because of this, I am not able to get into the Samba configuration. I thought maybe it was a problem with my router, so I logged into my router and forwarded the port which I was having trouble with (601) but I still got the same error.

Secondly is printing. According to many people I have talked to and many tutorials I have looked at on the internet, the KDE Add Printer Wizard is one of the easiest ways to set up a printer for my Linux machine. Because of this, I quickly opened up the wizard and attempted to be on my way, but I didn't get very far. On the very first step (Backend Selection), every one of the options was grayed out where I couldn't select any, and it would not let me go on to the next step until I select one. I am using a HP Deskjet 932c connected directly into the parallel port on my Linux machine. I don't remember what website it was, but it showed compatibility of different printers with Slackware and it told me that mine would work perfectly.

Lastly, is WINE. The only real reason I need WINE is to install FirstClass, a private mail conferencing piece of software. I first downloaded the latest version of FirstClass, 8.0. After downloading, I went into my terminal and typed "wine /home/adamantium/FC8031US.exe". For a moment, things were going along just fine, as the Install Shield Wizard opened and I saw the big First Class logo. Just before the Install Shield Wizard completed, however, I get a popup that says "Internal Failure: Error Number: 0x80040707". I retried a few more times hoping it was just a one time thing, but no such luck. After that, I downloaded an earlier version of FirstClass, version 6.0. I did the same thing, downloaded it, went into terminal and typed "wine /home/adamantium/FC6011UK.exe", and this time the Install Shield Wizard progress bar completed, but after that it just sits there while nothing is happening, and I've let it be for quite a long while to see if it would go anywhere. I looked at the WINE website to check for FirstClass compatibility, and it states that version 6.0, 7.0, 7.1, and 8.0 will all work. I have tried all of these except for 7.1.
