Samba PDC + new windows 7 machines admin privileges not working.

Hi all, I am a newb so forgive me. I have a pdc with a samba file share and have multiple xp workstations that can install programs from the server and share files, but I have 2 new windows 7 machines that I have edited the registries on and joined the domain with but cannot install programs from the pdc even though they have root accounts. I have tried to change folder privileges from the workstations but I am not allowed.

Hello Robddog and welcome to LQ,

could you please provide more information?

Which distribution and which version of Samba are you using on your PDC?

Which permissions don't work? connecting from the Win7-machines to the PDC? Do domainlogins work?
Do you fail to browse the shared directories?
What do you mean with "installing programs", the setupfiles are shared on the PDC?

Which versions are the clients WinXP/Professional?, WinXP/Home?, Win7/Professional?, Win7/Home?

The Xp clients work flawlessly. 2 new Windows 7 machines are joined to the domain, can browse, copy and delete files etc. But the 7 machines fail to install a program that is deployed form the server saying they do not have privileges. This is the only problem but since our work stations need this program that installs from the server I am shut down. Has to be some kind of new security that 7 has is my best guess. Redhat Linux Fedora 11, Samba 3.3.2.
